Operas at Whichford House

22 August 2016

On 8th and 9th July 2016 Bridget Barker, and her husband, Simon Herrtage hosted two productions by Diva Opera – Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte and Donizetti’s Don Pasquale.

Both evenings were fine and relatively warm with the sun making a short appearance. About 130 people came to each event and enjoyed drinks (champagne supplied by Vinotopia in Tetbury and gin cocktails supplied by the Cotswold Distillery) together with delicious canapés. The performances were staged in an outdoor amphitheatre under a large waterproof canopy.

Both operas were performed by a small number of exceptionally talented singers (six for Cosi fan tutti and five for Don Pasquale) and were accompanied by the incrediblyOpera 2016 talented Bryan Evans on the piano. The performances were intimate and great fun. Each lasted about 90 minutes and was followed by dinner, a summer buffet or a picnic in the picnic tents. There was a raffle and a silent auction which together with generous donations and sponsorship helped raise about £10,000 for Gynaecological Cancer Fund over the course of the two evenings.

Next year the operas will take place on Friday 7th and Saturday 8th July 2017. If you would like to come and support Gynaecological Cancer Fund please contact wendy@whichfordhouse.co.uk to be put on the mailing list.
